  • Age Range: Applicants must be between 18 to 40 years old at the commencement of their studies.

  • New Zealand Student Visa: Applicants must fulfill the requirements for a New Zealand Student visa.
  • Course Prerequisites: All course prerequisites must be met before applying for the scholarship.
  • University Acceptance: Applicants must secure an offer or acceptance from a New Zealand university.
  • PhD Applicants: PhD applicants should seek and email potential supervisors at New Zealand universities early in the application process. Evidence of supervisor engagement may be required during the interview stage.
  • English Proficiency: Proof of English proficiency is necessary if awarded the scholarship. Different English language test scores are required depending on the level of study (postgraduate or undergraduate), with minimum score requirements specified by the respective universities.
  • PhD Research Proposal: PhD applicants need to submit a research proposal as part of their application.
  • General Level of English: While specific English proficiency requirements vary by institution and course, generally, for postgraduate study, applicants must achieve an overall IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent, and for undergraduate study, an overall IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent.   • Pacific Countries: Students from Pacific countries, including Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji (postgraduate only), Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu, can pursue undergraduate degrees, postgraduate certificates, postgraduate diplomas, master’s degrees, and Ph.D. programs.
  • Asian Countries: Students from Asian countries such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Jordan, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar*, Nepal, Philippines, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Maldives, have the opportunity to enroll in postgraduate certificates, postgraduate diplomas, master’s degrees, and Ph.D. programs.
